Support My Administration To Build Solid Economy For A/Ibom – Gov Udom Urges APC

Udom-Emmanuel1Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom, has called on the All Progressives Congress to cooperate and support his administration to build a solid economy for the state.

The governor’s appeal is contained in a statement issued in Uyo, the state capital on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh, while reacting to APC’s call for assets declaration.

APC, which is challenging Emmanuel’s victory on PDP platform at the April 11 governorship election at the tribunal, is also demanding for public announcement of the debt profile of the state.

But the statement said: “Governor Udom Emmanuel, in accordance with the law and the requirement by the Code of Conduct Bureau has already declared his assets and the forms duly retuned”.

It said that the governor’s total dedication to his main campaign promise of rapid industrialisation in the state had prompted him to set up a committee on Ibom Deep Seaport.

According to Udoh, the committee has three years to actualise the vision of a deep seaport in Akwa Ibom.

The governor’s spokesman noted that Emmanuel had also visited the moribund Peacock Paint factory in Etinan local government area with a view to reactivating it.

“Technical committees on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and Agriculture and Food Sufficiency will soon be constituted.

“Also, electricity supply has become more stable since the Governor had direct interaction with the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company.

“In two weeks, an additional 20 wattage would be added to the system, which would further stabilise power supply”, Udoh said.

The statement also explained that the governor had been busy deploying his vast contacts and language of communications within the financial world to draw investors to the state.

“I hope the APC can now join hands to build our State and support the people-centric programmes of the Udom Emmanuel administration”, Udoh appealed. (NAN)
