Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has shut two petrol stations in Ilorin, Kwara State for allegedly under-dispensing to motorists.

The stations shut are NIPCO located on Ajase-Ipo road and Success and Regards operating on New Yidi road, which were discovered to have adjusted their metre downward.

The DPR Operation Controller in the state, Mr. Amos Jokodola, through the acting Deputy Manager, Retails Outlets, Mr. Ishola Joshua, announced the closure on Sunday during inspection of filling stations in Ilorin.

He summoned the management of both stations to appear before it and explain why they have decided to get involved in such sharp practice.

He also warned three other petrol stations in the metropolis to adhere to the rules and regulations of the department or be sanctioned.

Jokodola said that the agency would not hesitate to close down any petrol station found cheating motorists in the state. He also warned them against selling petrol above the official price.

  1. This cheating habit is very prevalent in lagos state. DPR should visit filling stations in lagos. Those who buy in kegs are taken advange of and cheated. The machines are tampered with so that it doesn’t sell the complete litre. A customer may request and pay for ten litres, yet get eight and half. In my vicinity MRS and Mobil filling stations are known for such practice. MRS is more notorious. DPR should not wait for reports, they should make routine visits to filling stations to keep them in check.

  2. Thank u for this action! I hope the DPR authority responsible for Ogun andLagos should borrow a leaf from this becuase sateillite f/station at mowe bus stop, NIPCO just b/4 redemption all along lagos ibadan expressway are involvedin this sharp practices. Pls visit them.
