“Abandoning Babies Worse Crimes Anyone Can Commit Against Humanity”

Amina Abubakar BelloDr. Amina Bello, wife of the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, on Monday warned parents to desist from abandoning their babies, adding that there is presently no legislation that says people must have children.
Mrs. Bello, who gave the warning in Minna, the capital of Niger, after inspecting an orphanage home in the state, expressed shock at the rising cases of abandoned babies across the country.
“Abandoning a baby is among the worst crimes anyone can commit against humanity”, she said.
The wife of the governor warned those who abandoned innocent babies to desist, stressing that the act had a way of coming back to haunt those who did such.
While acknowledging that the economic situation in the country might not be making things easy for some people, she said it was also not a justification for throwing away babies, calling on parents to be patient as things would improve in future.
The governor’s wife, who recently volunteered her services as a trained consultant gynecologist at the state general hospital, advised people incapable of taking care of the needs of the babies, to avoid having them as there was no need to put the lives of those babies in danger.
Mrs. Amina Bello, however, urged sexually active Nigerians to live up to their responsibilities to ensure the reduction of abandoned babies across the country.
