Najere Fires Enyimba Past FC Taraba

Musa Najere’s solitary goal was enough to help Enyimba remount the Glo Premier League table top spot in a 1-0 home win against a resilient FC Taraba.

The game was moved to Monday because of a heavy downpour at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday.

Kingsley Sokari almost opened scoring for the People’s Elephant within two minutes of kickoff, but his shot was parried for corner by goalkeeper Obilo.

Markson Ojobo’s penalty in the 54th minute after Daniel Etor was impeded in the goal area was saved by Obilo.

Chimaobi Nwaogu thought he had placed Taraba ahead six minutes after the restart, but his headed goal was chalked off for an infringement by the referee.

Najere broke the deadlock in the 76th minute from a Peter Onyekachi assist.

Enyimba now top the Nigeria Professional Football League standings with 48 points from 25 games.
