President Muhammadu Buhari has withdrawn the name of immediate past Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto.
Ibeto was among the first batch of 21 ministerial nominees sent to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki by Buhari on September 30.
Although it is not immediately clear why the ex-governor’s nomination was withdrawn, VANGUARD reports that President Buhari has sent a letter to Senate President Saraki, notifying him of the development.
It was also learnt that the letter will be read at the floor of the Senate before screening of ministerial nominees continues on Wednesday.
Ibeto was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and was deputy to former Governor Babangida Aliyu for eight years until he defected to the All Progressives Congress in January, 2015 as a result of irreconcilable differences which resulted from the gubernatorial primaries in the state and injustice.
