Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday described the ongoing trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) as a constitutional and legal matter.

Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Reps leader said Saraki’s trial had nothing to do with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senate President Saraki is undergoing trial at the CCT on a 13-count charge including alleged false declaration of assets.

“I can’t comment and promote things that are unsubstantiated. You know the problem is a constitutional, legal problem. And I don’t know how you can treat a constitutional legal problem politically”, he said.

On whether the National Assembly was still experiencing a leadership crisis, Mr. Gbajabiamila said all was calm in the House of Representatives.

“Everything that has a beginning has an end. I don’t think and I don’t know if there is any leadership crisis in the National Assembly. I’m not sure at what you’re alluding to. I’m not in the Senate.

“But the little I understand is that there is an issue involved with the Senate president. That has nothing to do with the APC. That has to do with the issue of law, and I’m sure the Senate president is being surely represented and he’ll have his day in court”, Gbajabiamila said.
