The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, on Friday, disowned a Faecbook account purportedly operated by him.
The Minister, who disowned the Facebook account during a courtesy visit on him by leaders of the Ebonyi State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, said the account was created by unscrupulous elements to defraud people.
“So many people called me on phone that they were chatting with me on Facebook. I stand here to say I don’t operate face book account.
“If anybody creates Facebook account with my name and pictures. The person is a criminal. Ignore such person.
“Some persons have been using my name and pictures to do all manner of business. I want to warn them to desist from this”, Mr. Onu said.
He also debunked reports that his recent visit to Governor Dave Umahi was to mend fences with him.
While stating that he had no qualms with the governor, the Minister said the visit was to console him over the demise of his mother, Margret Umahi.
The Minister stressed that despite political inclinations, he visits people who lose their loved ones because he understands the grief of loss, wondering why the visit was misinterpreted by some people and a section of the media.
While calling on people of the state to support the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, the former governor of old Abia State said Ebonyi cannot afford to be in opposition.
He said the state has tremendous potentials and must support the federal government to harness them.
Mr. Onu further said President Buhari inherited a bad economy from the past administration and has been working round the clock to fix it through diversification of the economy.
He restated his readiness to reposition the Ministry of Science and Technology to make it vibrant.
Earlier, the Ebonyi APC Chairman, Eze Nwachukwu, told the minister that the APC leaders came to celebrate with him.
Mr. Nwachukwu said the party in the state was united and poised to win future elections in the state.
