Police Parade 20 Suspects, Including Armed Robbers, Rapists, Kidnapper

Lagos State police command paraded 20 suspects, including armed robbers, rapists and a kidnapper, at the command headquarters, in Ikeja, yesterday. The State commissioner of police, Mr Fatai Owoseni while parading the suspects said between January 6 and January 21, 2016, there was 31 robbery cases, police also recovered 14 ammunition, 18 stolen vehicles, axes, and four cutlasses from suspected criminals.

Owoseni said the police also arrested five cultists and raided 635 suspects in their criminal hideouts. He noted that 120 of the suspects were screened out, 514 charged to to court, 508 convicted
while six were discharged and acquitted. He said in the police poise to stop commercial operators from plying the restricted routes in the State, the police impounded 423 motorcycles.

Among the five-man gang that abducted a man who owns a water factory at Abijo, along Lekki- Ibeju area of the metropolis, police arrested one Friday Allen who confessed to have collected N100, 000 out of the N1 million ransom.
The police also nabbed four suspected kidnappers who raped a 17- year- old girl, identified as Azeezat. The police gave the names of the suspects as Habeeb Oladele, Oyekanmi Rasheed, John Alade and Olatunji Femi.
The commissioner said, “The command wishes to inform members of the public that the command in its bid to make the State safer made some modest achievements in the fight against crime and criminality. This is sequel to the security arrangements enplaced by  the command for the yuletide which are being sustained and constantly reviewed with a view to deny criminals freedom of action and further stem the rate of crime.”
