The Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, says his detention by the EFCC was politically motivated.

Speaking on Thursday during a session with reporters in Abuja, Secondus lamented that the eight days he spent in the EFCC detention was a ploy by political opponents to humiliate leaders of the PDP. He also alleged that his fundamental human rights were violated.

Secondus was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 14, allegedly for receiving luxury buses worth over 110 million Naira from a person being investigated by the agency.
