The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared total support for the party’s national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, despite opposition against his leadership.
The deputy chairman of PDP in the state, Dr. Tsetim Ayargwer, said that those opposing Sheriff’s leadership were mere detractors.
He made this position known in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital yesterday.
He said: “We are behind Sheriff. We believe in his ability to reposition the party. Those talking against Sheriff are detractors”.
Ayargwer, who said his party believes in zoning and internal democracy in order to give every member a chance to test their popularity, assured that the party’s congresses, which would soon hold at all levels in the country, will exemplify the fairness it stands for.
