N/Delta Avengers Blow Up Another Chevron Facility

The Niger Delta Avengers on Wednesday announced the bombing of an oil well belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The announcement came less than 24 hours after the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinabjo (SAN), met with some governors of the oil producing states and service chiefs to fashion out strategies to stem the rising tide of militancy in the Niger Delta.
The Avengers appear to have rejected any peace moves initiated by the federal government, saying it would not negotiate terms for a cease fire.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday ordered a suspension of military operations in the Niger Delta for two weeks to create a window for dialogue with militants in the oil-rich region.
In a statement posted early hours of today on its twitter handle, the militant group said “This is to inform the general public that we are not negotiating with any committee. If the federal government is discussing with any group, they’re doing that on their own”.
It further said “At 1:00am today, the @NDAvengers blow up (sic) Well RMP 20 belonging to Chevron located 20 meters away from Dibi flow station in Warri North local government area”.
Confirming the attack on the oil well, a security source said “Yes, there was an attack this morning militants on a Chevron facility”.
The source disclosed that the facility was attacked using dynamite at about 3:00am on Wednesday.
