Oyo Immigration Rescues 131 Kids From Traffickers

Oyo State Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mrs. Victoria Isangedighi, disclosed to journalists over the weekend that 131 children have been rescued from traffickers.

She said not less than 56 of the rescued kids have been reunited with their parents.

She further said that the children who were victims of child trafficking by Nigerians and foreigners were rescued through the intelligence and surveillance effort of men of the Command during various operations at different locations within the state in the last four months.

The Immigration boss stated that from February till date, 144 traffickers were nabbed, which included 75 Nigerians and 69 non-Nigerians.

Isangedighi added that 12 of the cases that require further investigation and probably prosecution have been transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons, NAPTIP.

She lauded the gallant and intelligence efforts of the border corps of the command, who arrest and repatriate illegal immigrants in the face of security challenges facing the country.
