FIRS Shuts 4 Companies Over Unpaid Tax

In an effort to boost the Federal Government’s internally Generated Revenue (IGR) the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, sealed some companies across the nation for defaulting in tax payments up to N715m.

The sealed firms include: Urban Shelter Limited in Abuja, Venro Energy Limited in Lagos, Enegas in Lagos and Davnotch Nigeria Limited in Asaba, Delta State.

The FIRS in a statement on Monday said, the development came as it continued its ongoing efforts to enforce tax regimes in the country.

The statement added that; Urban Shelter Limited located at Shippers Plaza in the Wuse Zone 5 Area of Abuja was closed down due to its failure to remit accumulated tax arrears of N637m for the period between 2008 and 2016 while Venro Energy Limited, situated at 250b, Ikorodu Crescent on Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, and Enegas office in No. 14 Oladipo Diya Street, 2nd Avenue Estate in Ikoyi were shut for defaulting up to N29m and N15m respectively.
