Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) has development and security plan for the people.
He made this declaration at the APC Rivers West Senatorial Zonal Special Rally, which took place at the Industrial Unit Field, Bonny, as part of preparations for the forthcoming rerun elections in the state.
The minister, represented by the APC deputy governorship candidate during the 2015 election in the state, said: “Only the APC can provide good things of life for the people of Rivers West”.
Mr. Amaechi assured the people of the area that several roads would be rehabilitated in the state by the APC-led federal government, especially the Bonny-Bomu Road, Ring Road among others.
According to him, “When the federal government is willing to help us, and we elect opposition members, would the federal government be able to help us freely?”
The former governor also said that only the APC-led federal government can bring about genuine and effective security to the state as the Peoples Democratic Party-led government in the state had failed in that aspect.
“Is it (Nyesom) Wike’s security you want or that of the federal government? There are many undecided voters, now take the message to them, we have tried PDP for 16 years and we were not better off, let’s try the APC” Amaechi said.
Earlier, the Rivers South-east Senatorial District candidate of the party, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, said that there was unity of purpose among people ahead of the forthcoming rerun election.
“I know it has been a long and torturous journey, but nothing good comes easy. Work hard and play hard. Victory is certain by the grace of God”, Abe said.
