The Imo State police command has arrested two people, 20 year old Bright Ori and 18 year old Munachi Obodo for allegedly murdering a tricycle (Keke) operator and stealing his machine in the process.
Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) in the state, Mr Andrew Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the murder suspects had on Monday hired a tricycle operator from Douglas Road in Owerri, the state capital to Avu in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state where they allegedly sent him to his early grave and immediately zoomed off with his tricycle.
Enwerem disclosed that the duo reportedly diverted the movement of the tricycle to Area V Avu, towards Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, wherein they allegedly stabbed the driver and used a belt to strangle him to death and made away with his tricycle .
Mr Enwerem further informed that luck ran out of the two young men, as they were immediately rounded up by police men said to be on a routine patrol in the area.
The PPRO stated that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue at the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, adding that the suspects have confessed to the crime.
