The arrest of two Supreme Court Justices, as well as several other Judges of the High court by the Department of State Services, have dominated much of the front pages.
The justices were arrested on allegations of ‘corruption’ as the DSS claimed to have recovered N93 million from the arrested persons. Nigerians have reacted to the arrest and many are not impressed by the Buhari’s administration attempt to try persons in the media.
The administration’s anti-corruption drive is generally believed to be selective and has so far failed to result in any convictions despite the grand allegations made against them.
Despite a media campaign claiming former National Security Adviser orchestrated the embezzlement of $2.1 billion, he was eventually charged with stealing $51 million. The case against him and other allegedly corrupt persons have remained in limbo despite the government’s propaganda.
Several Nigerians have reacted to the events;
Nobody is saying judges cannot be investigated – they key issue is HOW judges are investigated, and by who and under which terms?

Just because judges don’t make statements in public doesn’t mean we should be quiet and watch ignorant presidents trample all over them.

The DSS are investigating the ‘judges ostentatious lifestyle’.
Dino Melaye has 28 cars and just bought a new one worth N120M.
Boss.

“Judges are not above the law”
No one is arguing that with you.
“The DSS are not above the law”
Now that’s the sticking point.— Amara Nwankpa (@Nwankpa_A) October 9, 2016
Our sense of right & wrong depends on who is at the receiving end. Those who freely used ‘Jonathanian Police’ are angry about ‘Buhari’s DSS’

It’s so shameful how the executive tends to handle prosecution of Judges in the country. Where laws and procedures established are not followed anarchy and chaos is inevitable. #NotTheChangeIVoted4.
Have they been prosecuted? This is simply investigation and one stupid, corrupt and inept governor tried to aid and abetted one of the judges to cover evidence against the judge.
