Barrow pusher jailed two months for stealing N3, 000

A truck pusher,Ibrahim Abdulkadri has been sentenced to two month imprisonment by a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Friday for stealing a customer’s N3,000.

Abdulkadri, 19, of Mabushi, Abuja, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing and begged for leniency.

 The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option to pay N5,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime in the future.

Prosecuting counsel, Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that one Chukwuma Eze of Angwu Shehu village, Karmo, with the help of police, arrested and brought the convict to Karmo Police Station.

Zannah informed the court that on March 7, at about 3 p.m., while the complainant was in Karmo market assisting somebody to sell bread, the convict and four others now at large, stole the complainant’s N3,000.

He said that the complainant raised an alarm, the convict was caught with the help of a police officer, while others ran away.

He also said that during police interrogation and investigation, N2, 200 was recovered from the convict.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
