Man stabbed to death over little confusion in Kano

A Kano Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded one Mujahid Sa’idu, 30, in prison for allegedly stabbing one Nura Dalhatu to death.

Sa’idu was arraigned on a count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Yakubu Galadima, told the court that one Tijjani Dalhatu of Dandago Quarters Kano reported the case at the Jakara Police Station in Kano on July 1.

Galadima said that the defendant, residing at Gyaranya Quarters in Kano, at about 8.30 p.m. on July 1, attacked and stabbed the complainant’s younger brother Nura, 25.

He alleged that the defendant stabbed Nura in the stomach giving him a deep cut.

The prosecutor said that Nura was rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

However, when the first information report was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Zubair Inuwa ordered the remand of Sa’idu in prison and adjourned the case till Aug. 10 for mention.
