16-year-old Boy Hacked To Death And Hung On Crane

It was pure commotion, during the weekend, at Eziowelle, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, when a 16-year-old boy Ezeanya, was hung on a crane, hacked to death and deposited at a hospital morgue, Ogidi, by a man (name withheld).

According to Vanguard, it was alleged that the man had earlier tied the boy, hung him in a manual crane before hacking him to death. Meanwhile, restive youths were said to be threatening to set ablaze the suspect’s house.

However, the circumstances leading to the incident was still hazy at the time of this report. Unconfirmed reports claimed that the deceased was playing with his mates when the suspect called him, supposedly to send him on an errand.

According to source, when the boy did not return home, his parents who became disturbed were told by the mates that he was called by the suspect probably for an errand.

The parents were said to have proceeded to his house, where they allegedly saw the boy dead, with hands tied and hung in a manual crane.

The parents were said to have raised the alarm, which attracted sympathisers to the scene. In the ensuing melee, the suspect was said to have quickly untied the corpse, put it into his car and made straight to hospital morgue (name withheld) where he deposited the corpse.

Angered by the development, the youths were said to have mobilised to set the house of the suspect ablaze.

However, they were allegedly stopped by elders who described the incident as an abomination and assisted the youths in placing palm fronds round the house to ex-communicate the suspect temporarily.

At the Ogidi Police Station, where the suspect is detained, the suspect was said to have admitted tying and hanging the boy on the crane on suspicion of being the thief that had come to his house at 2a.m. to steal, but denied hacking the boy to death.

Confirming the incident, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Mark Ijarafu, said investigation was ongoing.
