Police rescue 413 cows from armed robbers in Kaduna State

The Kaduna State Police Command arrested two armed robbers in Kagarko bush, Kaduna State, during a gun duel with the police.

It was learnt that 413 stolen cows and 50 sheep were recovered by the police, as other suspects fled.

It was gathered that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team deployed along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway engaged the robbers on Monday around 2am.

An officer on the team disclosed to our correspondent on Wednesday that the cows and sheep were moved to Katari town, where many of them were returned to their owners.

“On November 27, at about 2am, IRT operatives on Operation Absolute Sanity along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway engaged some armed robbers moving with hundreds of stolen cows. During the fierce gun battle, two of the armed robbers met their Waterloo as others fled and abandoned 413 stolen cows and 50 sheep,” he said.

He explained that while 337 cows and 41 sheep had been returned to their owners, 76 cows and nine sheep had yet to be claimed, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest the remaining bandits.
