Police Arrest Woman for Attempting to Sell Her Twin Babies for N350,000

As times get harder, strange things keep happening and few can be stranger than what this 30-year-old mother of twins, Salima Lawal, who hails from Marabar Kankara town in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State did.

According to reports, Salima Lawal has been arrested by the men of the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly attempting to sell her twins for N350,000.

This development was confirmed by the state Police Commissioner, Been Gwana, during a press briefing in Katsina on Wednesday.

According to the commissioner, Lawal already concluded negotiations and had agreed to sell the twins for the said amount to someone she referred to as “a good Samaritan”. The sale was supposed to take place at Ruwan Godiya village in Faskari Local Government Area of the state on December 2, 2017 but the Police foiled the process and arrested her before she could complete the transaction.

Police Commissioner Gwana also said the case is still under investigation and that Lawal would be arraigned in court as soon as possible. He however did not give details regarding the sex and age of the twins, Punch reports.

As the economic situation in the country gets dire by the day, people are resorting to desperate means of survival, many of them ignoble if not outright criminal. Last month, a couple was arrested in Imo for stealing and selling babies. Before that, an apprentice stole and sold her bosses baby for N60,000. One can only hope for an end to the trend.
