BREAKING: Shooter opens fire at a school, kills 1 and injures 7

A new report confirms that one student has been killed and 7 others injured after two shooters opened fire at a school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

According to police, an adult and one juvenile, opened fire at  STEM School Highlands Ranch Tuesday afternoon claiming one life in the process before they were eventually apprehended by a SWAT team and taken into custody.

A resident of the area, Kelly Paulson, told KMGH that her son Christian who attends the school said her son was in the hall when he saw a “bunch of kids running out and saying, ‘school shooter, school shooter.’ ”

Kelly Rocco DeChalk, another resident in the area told NBC News that upon leaving his house, he saw a boy who had been shot in the back, sitting by a mailbox close to home.BREAKING: Shooter opens fire at a school, kills 1 and injures 7

“I saw all of them running, so I thought it was a gym class at first. But then I saw there were so many of them.”

DeChalk said he took the boy and a teacher who was with him into his kitchen to wait after calling 911.

Two other victims are reported to be in stable condition.

The attacked school is an elementary, middle, and high school that has students aged between 5 to 18.
