FG Declares Public Holidays For Christmas, New Year

The federal government of Nigeria has declared Friday 25 and Monday 28 December 2020 as public holidays to celebrate the 2020 Christmas and Boxing Day.

This was made known in a statement on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib M.L Belgore on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

The Government also declared Friday, January 1, 2021, as a new year public holiday.

The statement urged the citizens to use the yuletide season to pray for peace in the country and emulate Jesus Christ in living a life of peace and love.

“We must emulate the life of humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness that the birth and ministry of Jesus Christ signified, that will be the best way to know Christ and celebrate his birth”, he said.

He also advised Nigerians and Christians in particular, to abide by all COVID-19 protocols and guidelines during the holidays.
