Gunmen Kidnap Adamawa Speaker’s Chief Of Staff, Usman Sahabi

The Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Wesley Bathiye, Usman Sahabi, has been reportedly kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen.

INFORMATION NIGERIA learnt that Sahabi, a reporter with Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC, was forcefully taken out of his residence at about 1 am on Thursday.

He is said to have lived in the same residence in Wuro-Chekke, in Yola South Local Government Area, for many years before he was whisked away by the culprits.

A family source, told Daily Post that the kidnappers had called and demanded a N20 million for his release.

He said: “Five gunmen stormed his house about 1:00 this morning and forcefully had their way into his room where they whisked him away at gunpoint,”

Reacting, to the development, the State’s Police Command, in a statement made available to the public, vowed to rescue the journalist.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, said the state Command had deployed all its operational assets to ensure the rescue.

“We have deployed our operational manpower, and we are working round the clock to ensure that the abducted journalist is rescued alive.

“We have not rested on our oars since we learnt about the incident and are giving the criminals a hot chase till we rescue the journalist alive and apprehend the perpetrators.

“DC operations have finished coordinating all rescue efforts and wish to assure his safe return to his family,” Nguroje assured.
