The Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Social Development Matters, Mrs Sarah Pane has said that the negative use of the social media by Nigerian youths is impacting negatively on the country’s image adding that denigrating Nigerian leaders through the medium has become a pastime of the youths to the extent that the Nigerian President has become the most insulted in the world. “This is not the type of record we want. Let’s use the social media for positive interaction”, she posited.
Pane was speaking at the Discovery Empowerment Programme for NYSC that took place on Wednesday at Alexis Hotel, Jabi, Abuja which had in attendance more than 200 members.
In a goodwill message, the representative of the Director General, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr. Salawu Abdulrazak praised the programme and called for greater support from government so that more sorpsmembers can benefit adding that the management of NYSC would seek ways to strengthen ties with the office of the Special Adviser on Social Development in a bid to extend the programme to orientation camps.
Also speaking at the event, the director, Enterprise, Small and Medium Enterprise Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, who represented the Director General, explained the role of the agency in advancing the cause of small and medium scale industries and how outgoing corps members interested in setting up can key into it.
Nigeria is difficult to rule…agreed but since 1960 the politicians had a long enough time to make mistakes and redirect themselves to right way, even when the people were ignorant of what polititics was. They were drifting like in Hawai Island until today. The same mess continues. What protection does an average Nigeria have. If they are not terrorised by fellow citizens as robbers, they are embarrased by the various arms of the law enforcement agency (strange not to maintain the law and order) but to fill in their personal pocket because as their high officers are paid adequately by the government — not normal salary, the lower ones are left with megger salary to take care of themselves and their families. The masses engage in a dog eat dog fight while the ruling class has enough money to spray at any time. Are they raelly eligible to any type of respect. They are worse that the SS organisation during the second world war and they have the gots to even complain. ABSURDAL INDEED!!!!!

Well, it’s true, only sentimental Nigerians end up abusing their president (at least from my 2go experience inter alia).
However, its not objectively true that Nigeria’s president is the most insulted in the world. The insult is not up to the level which presidents of war-torn and hyper-corrupt (than Nigeria) countries recieve.

Am very grateful to the inventors of social networks, it enable the voices of the politically downtroddened, the politically oppressed,the minority and the common man in the street to be heard in Nigeria, when the leaders loot our treasuries, when they Govern us the way they like without caring about our feelins, we quickly run to the social site and made our voices heard,by cursing those thief.
Thank God it is unlike the 80s and 90s that They loot our treasuries and we were watching them and cannot even say a word.
The ealier our leaders understand that we are a watch dog to them through social site and start being sincere in their leadership the better.
