Eid-El-Kabir: Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Cinema, Thrills Abeokuta Fun Seekers

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta was thrown open to fun seekers who trooped out in their numbers on Saturday, to watch movies and enjoy the serene environment in the spirit of Eid el-Kabir celebrations.

Some of the visitors told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the cinema had created a platform for people to recreate and ease tension.

Mr Rafui Olateju, a resident of Abeokuta, expressed happiness over the transformation happening in the state.

Olateju who came to the cinema with his family of seven, said that the facility was quite impressive.

“This is our own Silverbird, they show nice indigenous movies which are entertaining and equally educating,” he said.

Mr Yinka Williams, the Artistic Director of OOPL Theatre, told NAN that the concept of the world class cinema was to encourage social interaction among the people. .

He said OOPL Cinema had made Abeokuta lively, adding: “Life is coming back to Abeokuta, before now, people were complaining that Abeokuta was quite boring and people travelled all the way to Lagos to go to the cinema.

“The cinema has made available most of the best films Nollywood has to offer, not just during festive periods but also during the weekends,” he said.

Mr Adeboye Kalejaiye, the producer of one of the films showing at the cinema, said that OOPL Cinema had become a tourist attraction.

“People are taken by surprise at how much fun they are getting here, the cinema has created a platform for people to recreate and ease tension,’’ he said. (NAN)
