Obasanjo, Ladoja In Secret Talks

O ObasanjoFormer President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, visited Ibadan, the Oyo State capital where he held a closed door meeting with ex-governor of the State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja.

Obasanjo, who arrived Ladoja’s residence around 6:00pm held crucial talks which lasted for over an hour and when he was accosted by journalists who sought to know the purpose of his visit, the former president dodged the question.

Asked whether he came for reconciliation, Obasanjo noted that he was not the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). When pressed further to shed more light on recent moves to put the PDP on a sound footing following ongoing reconciliation talks, he added that he was no longer the BoT chairman.

Ladoja, however, disclosed the parley was part of national consultations embarked upon by Obasanjo as regards salvaging Nigeria’s democracy.

“Baba is a national figure and he has been consulting with people across the country. He came to see me on situation of things as regards the polity and issues concerning the masses of this nation. As farmers, we discussed agriculture and why rice should be cheaper than Gari,” he said.

Ladoja, who insisted that the meeting did not feature talks on PDP or 2015, disclosed that the parley focused on national issues and not specific politics.
