Gov. Shettima Gives N100m To Victims Of Boko Haram Attacks In Bama

Kashim ShettimaGovernor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has given a N100 million compensation package to victims of recent Boko Haram attack in Bama local government area of the state.

The governor, who made the announcement yesterday when he defied all security concerns to visit the troubled area, commiserated with the leaders and people of Bama, who had come under attacks in recent months by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Aside Maiduguri the state capital which has been the worse hit since the insurgency began, Bama has also witnessed some of the worse attacks in the hands of Boko Haram.

Speaking at the palace of the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibrahim El-Kanemi, where he presented N100 million to the monarch on behalf of the people, Governor Shettima decried how the insurgency had wasted lives, destroyed the economy and rendered hundreds of youths jobless.

“I took an oath of office as the governor two years ago to work for the people devoid of ethnic, religious and political affiliations. That is why it becomes a duty for us to share in your moments of grief”, Shettima said.

The Shehu of Bama, who was full of appreciation for the palliative given to his people, assured the governor that the funds will get to all those affected by the insurgency.
