Caf Confederations Cup Playoff: Bayelsa United Draw Ivoirian Champions Sewe Sport

The only Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side in the ongoing Orange Caf Confederations Cup, Bayelsa United, have been pitted against Sewe Sport de San-Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire in the Playoff round (1/8th round).

Bayelsa United progressed to the third round of the 2014 campaign with a 3-1 aggregate win over Zimbabwean outfit, How Mine, after losing 2-1 in Bulawayo and sealing a 2-0 win in Yenagoa.

The Ivory Coast title holders were relegated to Africa’s second tier club competition after losing on away goal rule to TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the second round of the Caf Champions League.

They beat the Congolese outfit 2-1 at the Stade Auguste Denise San-Pedro, before losing by a lone goal in Lubumbashi last Saturday.

Caf confirms that the first leg Play-off fixture comes up on the weekend of 18, 19 and 20 April in San Pedro and the second leg games on the weekend of 25, 26, and 27 April in Sapele.

The winner of the two-legged tie advances into the money-spinning Group Stage of the 2013/14 campaign.

‘The Restoration Boys’ finished third place in the previous NPFL season.
