Newcastle’s Taylor To Miss Rest Of The Season Through Injury

Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has confirmed he will miss the rest of the season after damaging his Achilles tendon during Thursday’s draw against Burnley.

Taylor left the pitch on crutches in the 60th minute during Newcastle’s 3-3 draw with Burnley at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle’s caretaker boss John Carver confirmed the situationafter the match, with the 26-year-old’s availability for the rest of the season placed in serious doubt.

“Gutted to say I’m going to be out for the season. I ruptured my Achilles in the last game. Thankfully it wasn’t the one I did a few years ago,” Taylor said on social media website Sportlobster.

“I’ll have an operation on it on Wednesday, but won’t make it back now for the rest of this season. I know what to do in the rehab from last time and will come back fitter and stronger than before.”
