Please Drop Use Of Card Readers For Governorship Elections – Plateau PDP Candidate Begs Jega

Gyang PwajokThe governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State, Senator Gyang Pwajok, has urged the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to allow Nigerians with temporary voter cards exercise their franchise using manual voter’s register during the forthcoming April 11 governorship elections.

He made the call in Jos, the state capital on Thursday.

Fielding questions from reporters, Pwajok lamented that the use of smart card readers during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections, disenfranchised many voters.

He, therefore, pleaded with the INEC to discard the use of card readers during upcoming polls.

Mr. Pwajok attributed the failure of the PDP in the state to the aggrieved members of the party who quit it during the last lap of the electioneering.

The governorship candidate, however, expressed the hope that Plateau would remain in PDP following the human and capital developmental programmes of the party, particularly in the state.

He also expressed confidence that he would emerge winner of the April 11 polls.

“I believe that there are intervening variables that will come to play during the governorship election because the feelings and expectation of Plateau people will also differ during the contest for the governorship”, he said. “The reality is that there will be alignment and realignment. There is a fact that some people voted Buhari as president but will vote GNS Pwajok for governorship.

“I want to call on those who have stuck their neck out for the greater good of Plateau State to remain resolute and to remain steadfast in standing for what they believe in the interest of the state.

“I am not worried in anyway because I believe that out of this confusion we will come out confident, and I am ready to take up the challenge to give quality leadership that the Plateau people expect of the younger generation of leadership that is emerging in Plateau”.
