Former Taraba Acting Gov Escapes Lynching By Irate Youths

Sani-Abubakar-DanladiThe immediate past acting governor of Taraba State, Sani Danladi, on Friday escaped lynching by angry youth at the venue of the state election petition tribunal in Jalingo, the state capital.
The youth, numbering over 200, ambushed the former acting governor, now a senator, as he emerged from the tribunal where he had gone to give evidence in a petition filed by Sani Kona, candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Taraba North Senatorial District in the March 28 National Assembly election.
Abubakar, who was in office between November 2014 and May 29 this year, won the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party by polling 106,163 votes to Mr. Kona’s 99,446 votes.
The venue of the tribunal was however, thrown into pandemonium as the youth rained abuses on the former governor as soon as he came out from the venue.
They chanted “Barawo! Barawo! (thief! thief!)” as he emerged from the hall.
The senator was held hostage for several minutes before he was rescued by policemen and other security operatives, who accompanied him to the tribunal.
The former acting governor was whisked away in his Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle by the operatives.
