The president skyped with the soccer players as they prepare to take on Mali in the final of the junior world tourney taking place in Chile.
Coached by former Super Eagle Emmanuel Amuneke, the Nigerian eaglets will make it a record 5th win for Nigeria if they win against Mali after victories for the country at this level in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2013.
Ironically, Buhari was military president in 1985 when Nigeria first won the tournament.
The Skype call with the president ended with a rendition of the national anthem.
The golden eaglets square up against Mali in the tournament’s last game on Sunday.
