Hundreds Rendered Homeless Due To Flooding In Yobe

More than hundreds of people have been displaced in Jakusko town of Yobe State as heavy rain continues to fall for days destroying farmlands and foodstuffs in the process.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajara Lawan, who visited the affected areas sympathized with the people as she described the incident as disastrous and pathetic.

She therefore, called on the government to urgently help the victims by providing succour to alleviate their sufferings

The affected residents also pleaded for urgent assistance from the government and other non-governmental organisations, calling for response to their crucial needs.

Meanwhile, the acting Field Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Yobe State, Nahuta Abubakar, while on an assessment tour to the area has given assurance to the victims that the agency will provide assistance soon.
