Barcelona Lose 4-3 To Celta Vigo

Spanish champions Barcelona suffered a shock 4-3 defeat to Celta Vigo in their second loss of the season in what will have Luis Enrique very worried.

Barcelona lost to Celta Vigo

Barcelona entered the match knowing they would go top of the table if they managed a win thanks to rivals, Real Madrid drawing 1-1 to Eibar. However, Celta Vigo proved too much for Enrique’s rotated team as they fell behind as early as the twenty-second minute.

Iago Aspas added a second and in unbelievable circumstances, Jeremy Mathieu added the third with an own goal. For the first time in a long time, Barcelona were on the wrong end of a proper drubbing and without Lionel Messi, they looked without bite.

When Iniesta came on, it looked like a Barca turnaround was on the cards as they managed to pull two back. Their efforts came undone when goalkeeper, Marc Ter-Stergen made a disastrous error to gift Celta Vigo with a fourth goal.

In  the 87th minute, Pique reduced the deficit to one and despite five minutes of added time, Celta Vigo held firm to deny Barca a single point they would readily have settled for.

Atletico Madrid now sit atop the La Liga table after beating Valencia 2-0.
