25-year-old Penuel Mnguni is the head Pastor of the End Times Disciples Ministries church, a church he began himself in 2014 after years of serving under an equally controversial South African pastor, Lesego Daniel.
In 2014, Penuel Mnguni shared pictures of members of his congregation eating grass and flowers on Facebook and on the church’s website. He also fed members with stones which he claimed he had turned to bread.
However, he gained popularity in 2015 when he began to order his members to eat rats and snakes which he claimed he had turned to chocolates. Nicknamed the “snake pastor”, he was later chased out of Soshanguve, where his church was located by locals.
