Fayose Arrests FRSC Official For Driving Against Traffic

Ayo FayoseGovernor Ayo Fayose was involved in a mild drama on Thursday when he arrested an officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Ikere Ekiti for driving against traffic.

The governor personally arrested the FRSC officer while on his way to flag off of the dualization of the Ado-Ikere-Ondo State boundary road and commissioning of some projects in Ikere town as part of activities marking the first year anniversary of his administration.

The FRSC official whose name was given as Adeola Alabi, left the bad portion of the road for the other lane, thereby driving against traffic to avoid potholes.

The incident, which happened at Sawmill area of Ikere Ekiti caused a brief traffic hold up as some residents of the town came out to watch the drama that ensued following Gov. Fayose’s arrest of the FRSC official.

Alabi’s action was said to have infuriated Fayose who ordered security operatives in his convoy to ensure he was apprehended.

After he was arrested, the traffic offender prostrated before Fayose, begging for mercy.

The governor, however, turned deaf ears to his pleas, insisting that the law must take its course.

Fayose immediately ordered that the Peugeot 505 Saloon car driven by Alabi be impounded and taken to the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA) yard.

The culprit is expected to pay N50,000 as fine for driving against traffic before his vehicle would be released.
