The kidnappers of the Kaduna State Secretary to the State Government, Waje Yayok, are asking a ₦40 million ransom for his release, his relations said on Tuesday.

Mr. Yayok was kidnapped on Monday night at Manchok, his home place, in Kaura Local Government Area, where he had travelled for the Sallah holiday.

A member of the Yayok family and the Danmasanin Manchock, Shehu Abui, said Mr. Yayok was abducted on Monday night by unknown persons.

Mr. Abui, said the kidnappers were demanding the ransom from the state government before they could release Mr. Yayok.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Tambari Mohammed, confirmed the official’s disappearance, but said the incident is currently regarded a “missing person” case.
