14 Killed As JTF, Gunmen Exchange Fire In Maiduguri

The Military Joint Task Force in Borno state codenamed Operation Restore Order, has announced that it lost one of its soldiers during an operation in Maiduguri, the state capital at about 1600 hours today (Tuesday).

In a statement by its spokesperson, Lt Col. Sagir Musa, which was made available to newsmen in Maiduguri, Lt Col Musa said that the troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation restore order had an encounter with Boko Haram Terrorists at Bulabulin and Bayan Quarters of Maiduguri.

According to the statement, during the exchange of fire, the JTF lost one soldier and 2 were wounded, but the statement further stated that the operation was successful despite the death of the soldier as thirteen Boko Haram Terrorists were gunned down during the operation.

The statement further stated that civilians were well protected and as there was no recorded casualty during the encounter, adding that the operation is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang and recover more weapons.

It also said that 3 AK 47 rifles, 1 rocket propelled grenade and a large quantity of assorted ammunition and IED materials were recovered during the operations.
