Arsenal Fall To Man City, 2-0 At Home As Both Sides See Red

Pablo Zabaleta and Aaron RamseyA highly explosive encounter it was today at the Emirates stadium between the young Gunners and the English Premier League defending champions, Manchester City as the game climaxed with the latter snatching the maximum points at stake to keep pace with Manchester United who earlier on defeated Liverpool, 2-1.

Arsene Wenger’s boys fell one man short in the 9th minute when Laurent Koscielny received a straight red card when he wrapped his arms around Dzeko and wrestled him to the ground. The Bosnian striker however failed to convert the resultant penalty kick as he hammered the ball straight down the middle but Szcsesny saves with his feet.

It wasn’t until the 21st minute when James Milner from wide of the posts, lashed the ball home off the upright to set his side up. It wasn’t until the 32nd minute before Dzeko made up for his earlier blunder when Milner crossed across the goal and Tevez’s tap looked like it was goal bound until Szczesny’s save – knocking the ball into Dzeko’s path for a tap in.

In the 75th minute, Vincent Kompany was been sent off for a tackle on Jack Wilshere. The replays would however suggest that although it was an aggressive slide, it wasn’t a two-footed tackle.

Overall, six yellow cards were dished out with Manchester City claiming four of those and Arsenal two. Both sides also shared a red card apiece.

Final score, 2-0.
