Ekiti State Is The Number One Rumour Mill In Africa – Gov. Fayemi

fayemiEkiti State, South West Nigeria, has been described as the number one rumour mill on the continent and this verdict is coming from none other than the state governor himself, Dr Kayode Fayemi. The governor who stated this yesterday at the state secretariat of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Ado-Ekiti.

Fayemi further decried how the people, including members of his party carried news that he was ferried out of the state in an air ambulance to the hospital for retreatment. He also dispelled insinuations that his deputy, Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, had resigned from his government.

While advising people of the state to desist from rumour-peddling which is antithetical to the level of education Ekiti is known for, called on party leaders in the state to enlighten the people on decisions of government.

“We are about to enter a season of politics. It is the duty of the party’s leaders to defend the decisions of the government. They shouldn’t be the ones telling the people in the communities that he/she doesn’t know what is happening in the government,” he said.

The governor during the visit, met with the leaders of the party on preparations for the 2014 governorship election and donated two buses to women and Youth Wings of the party to help ease their operations.
