Embarrassing: Serving Senator Chased out of Community over Unfulfilled Promises

A serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was, over the weekend, embarrassed by angry youths armed with clubs, sachet water and pebbles.

The incident, which took at Ekiugbo-Iyede community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, started when Senator James Manager, representing Delta South and other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, made a thank-you-visit to the community.

The angry youths flayed unfulfilled promises, saying that the politicians have not done enough to better the lot of their constituencies despite having been in government for long.

According to eyewitness account, stones and clubs were hurled at them amid chants of ijii, ijii, ijii (thieves, thieves, thieves) from the furious protesters who were carrying placards with inscriptions such as “PDP Leaders, You are a Disappointment, Failious (sic)’ and “Stop Deceiving Us.”

Also part of the embarrassed delegation were Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovourzorie Macaulay; Honourable Leo Ogor, member representing Isoko in the House of Representatives; Isoko representative in the DESOPADEC board, Mr. Joe Ogeh and Honourable Tim Owhefereunity.
