Pension Scam: FG Quietly Replaces Maina

Abdulrasheed-Maina1pThe Federal Government has bowed to pressure from the National Assembly to sack the controversial chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, from the Federal Civil Service following his refusal to appear before the lawmakers after several invitations.

The FG may have opted for a quiet dismissal from service of Maina so as not to be seen as bullied into submission by the National Assembly.

Both chambers of the legislature had unanimously voted for the dismissal of Maina, an Assistant Director in the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pensions Office, CIPPO, who was appointed to run the PRTT for 30 months only to be embroiled in scandals involving pensions funds management running into billions of Naira.

His replacement, Olabisi Jaji, a level 17 officer from the Ministry of Environment, was appointed by the Head of Service, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali to resume at CIPPO with immediate effect.

Jaji, in her transfer letter, was directed to take over from Maina on or before March 6.
