Abductors of 90-year-old man demand N30m ransom

kidnapAbductors of the 90-year-old man, Alhaji Musa Adisa, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday in Akure, Ondo State, have demanded for a N30 million ransom for the release of the nonagenarian.

Disclosing this yesterday, the son of the victim, Alhaji Musbau Iyiola, said the abductors have contacted the family demanding for the money before the old man would be released.

Alhaji Adisa was abducted by three armed men on his way to the mosque on Tuesday morning to observe his early morning prayer.

Iyiola, who is the President of the state Master Bakers Association of Nigeria, MBAN, said the kidnappers called him on telephone to make their demand known, but said that they did not give room for negotiation.

His words: “They called me and demanded for N30million and where would I get that amount from I told them to collect N500, 000, that is what I can afford, but they said no. So we ended the conversation,” he explained.

He, however, appealed to the state police command to assist the family in intensifying efforts at securing the release of his father, whom he said had been sick for sometimes now due to old age.

In his reaction, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Wole Ogodo, said the command was already in search of the former president of the state MBAN, assuring that the police would get him released soon.

“We are working round the clock, we are on top of the situation, we are making serious efforts to track down the perpetrators and get the old man liberated,” Ogodo said.

On the increasing rate of kidnapping in the state, the police spokesman said the police command would not relent in its efforts at arresting the perpetrators of the crime in the state.

He then appealed to the people to feed the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals in their environments.
