Rangers host Recreativo on Sunday in a second round clash that will qualify the winner to feature in the group stage of the competition.
According to information gathered on MTNFootball.com, Mba, goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, as well as Emmanuel Daniel from Shooting Stars have been retained in the training camp ahead of Sunday’s match pending a resolution with their respective clubs on their transfer.
In line with the report, 3SC have warned against Nigeria U20 goalkeeper Daniel being lined up by Rangers for the game, while Warri Wolves are rumored to have demanded for staggering transfer fees for Mba and Agbim. However the three players have been registered by Rangers for the Champions League.
This means skipper Godwin Ayalogu remains the only goalkeeper available for selection.
Rangers are the only surviving team from on the continent following the ousting of Kano Pillars (Champions League), Heartland and Lobi (Confederations Cup).
To make it to this stage of the competition, ‘The Flying Antelopes’ went past Vital’O of Burundi 2- 0 on aggregate, while Recreativo shocked Sudan giants Al Merreikh in the first round by winning both legs 2- 1 to advance on a 4- 2 aggregate.
Striker Sanusi Sani told MTNFootball.com he expevts a tough match against the visiting Angolans, who were last season eliminated by Sunshine Stars from the same competition on the away goal rule.
“It won’t be an easy match, no doubt, but we are ready for the task. We are in good form ahead of the game and have been training hard for it,” Sanusi said.
