The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted the claim making the rounds in some quarters that there was a rift between the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and its Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih, describing it as “false and baseless.”

The leadership of the party made this known in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, and made available to newsmen. The party leadership declared that Chief Anenih had not in away been obstructing the functions of the NWC under the leadership of Alhaji Tukur as claimed by a faceless association which called itself “Forum for Equity and Justice.”

According to Chief Metuh, “We are aware that this group of meddlesome interlopers and political jobbers, with no fixed address has been commissioned to stir up controversies and to portray the BoT as working at cross purposes with the NWC of the party”

The PDP spokesperson pointed out that for the avoidance of doubt, the NWC and the BoT were united and committed to providing the necessary political direction for the party, stressing that Chief Anenih’s recent reconciliatory visits to the states was to complement the reconciliation and consolidation tours embarked by the NWC and that they have been yielding desired results.
