Yesterday, unknown gunmen attacked a police barracks in Biu town of Borno State killing a policeman and injuring another.
The incident which reportedly happened around 7:30am, saw the gunmen open fire on the barracks but the attack was promptly repelled as policemen returned fire leading to the assailants fleeing the scene.
The town’s Monday weekly market was immediately shut down as traders ran for safety of their lives.
Meanwhile, some gunmen Sunday evening trailed a lawyer who was simply identified as Jibrin to his resident in the densely populated Bulumkutu area of Maiduguri metropolis and shot him dead.
“The lawyer was just standing in front of his house holding his toddler son when the gunmen held him at gunpoint before killing him while the son was hit by a bullet” a source in the area said.
A close associate of the lawyer said he had just returned from Kano where he was running an LLM programme before he met his death in the hands of his assailants.
I am just fed up with these uncontrollable killings of innocent people. Honestly,thereis away out and that is in the hand of the locals of the affected areas first and the security forces secondly. So the solution is synergy,period.
