A far-right Greek MP allegedly punched a 12-year-old girl in the face while attempting to hit the mayor of Athens.

The scuffle broke out after police shut down the Golden Dawn’s Greeks-only food handout, the Independent newspaper reports.

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis told state TV that MP Giorgos Germenis tried to hit him, but missed and struck the child instead.

She suffered a bruised forehead, according to Greek media.

What’s more, he accused Germenis of trying to draw a gun before police hauled him away.

The Golden Dawn set up shop in Athens’ central square Thursday to distribute food to the needy, but only if the needy could produce ID proving they are Greek.

Television footage showed Golden Dawn members in their trademark black T-shirts hitting riot police on the head with rolled up Greek flags after being prevented from unloading eggs, bread and lamb.

Police responded with a brief burst of tear gas.
