governor emmanuel uduaghan 2The new entry of Fulani herdsmen and their cattle into Delta has been banned by the state government as part of measures to properly monitor security situation in the state in order to ensure that it is a safe haven for Deltans and investors.

Secretary to Delta State Government, SSG, Mr. Ovuozourie Macaulay, weekend, who made this known weekend when he ran into a robbery operation in broad daylight on Ogwashi-Uku/Kwale Road, which is one of the black spots where bandits usually way lay motorists and passengers at random, however, gave the assurance that the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan-led administration would ensure that criminals no longer find a hiding place in the state.

The SSG, who ordered his security team into the bush in search of the hoodlums, also took part in the rescue operation of the robbery victims, which led to the rescue of one Juliana, who was shot on the
upper arm by the robbers.

Narrating her ordeal, another victim, Mrs. Olise Evelyn, said that she lost N200,000 to the robbers, who according to her, were suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

In a related development, State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, had last week, while commenting on the killings in Ogume purportedly carried out by Fulani herdsmen, said that the state government was finding a lasting solution to clashes between herdsmen and villagers who complained of the destruction of their farmlands and subsequent harassment by the herdsmen.

  1. D fulanis should b stopped from entering any southern state from Ogun on-ward as dey often destroy farmlands in addition 2 robbery n pollution of environment w d feaces of d cattle. Those once already must b expunge using heavy security personnels. Southerners should start raising cattle n not rely on fulanis supply. D state govts must enforce d sanction wout reservation.

  2. Fulanis all the time.Southern governments are not doing enough to protect their citizens.Their culture of nomadism is not same with ours.My friend was robbed on Benin/Lagos express with others by this same Fulanis. In Ogun and Oyo state recently the Fulani maruaders killed some people in their farm lands for daring to challenge them with their cattles.Even in my own village in Abia State some time ago Fulanis had a serious fight with my people before they were disloged from our farms and bush areas. In addition they have have caused several accidents on our roads and littering of environment with dungs.Northern governments should provide them camps(reseved areas) for grazing. While necessary laws should be made in the south to curtail their excesses before it becomes late.If they want to bring cows here they must transport them straight to cow markets as would be provided for them here, not wandering about with their stock. Then others will be going to buy from their distribution markets for consumption or for resale.Non of them should be allowed to settle at the ditribution camp otherwise with time they will expand and start causing problems.
