The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Ekiti State chapter has urged the state police command “to conduct a thorough investigation” into recent claims by a former governor of the state and gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Ayo Fayose, that his car was shot at by suspected assassins in a murder attempt in Ado Ekiti the state capital last Tuesday.
The request comes on the heels of the claim by the former governor and his party, the PDP, that its aspirants were targets of attacks and possible murder.
The ACN said it was only proper that an investigation be conducted to save the Ekiti polity.
Faulting Fayose’s claims, however, a statement signed by ACN Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Tunde Adeleke, described it as “suspicious.”
Adeleke said: “the present administration in the state had invested hugely in security, thereby making the state one of the safest in the country,” adding that the police authorities in the state should “invite Mr Fayose to substantiate the assassination claims with a view to allowing them carry out a proper investigation into the matter.”
